More points for Kimi in Turkish Rally

(18/04/10) For the second rally in a row Kimi has scored world rally points achieving 5th place and 10 points. Below is an extract from his website.
"Well, once again we proved that our simple target - finish, finish, finish – suits us fine. When we managed to finish the rally, we were also able to get a good result.
In some stages it was mainly the question to go very cautiously. Especially in the last stage it was very tricky to find the right speed. It was slippery like on ice. I pushed and Kaj did the braking on me. Once again it was working well and we kept the car on the road until the very finish. Fifth place in the Turkish Rally was more than we could have hoped before going for it.
All the time I have a better feeling also with the car. It’s getting better and better every time and it also feels easier to drive. This time we had some stages on tarmac, too. Well, it was still early days to try to get used to the grip levels and we used the gravel tyres and gravel set-up, too. So it’s useless to get too involved in details at this stage."

Kimi Crashes out of Rally Mexico
(06/03/10) "Raikkonen rolled his Citroen C4 World Rally Car out of Friday's competition almost within sight of the end of SS7. Eyewitnesses report seeing the car roll off the road at high speed, before coming to rest at the bottom of a bank. Both Raikkonen and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom are out of the car and are reported to be okay."
Kimi clearly has a mountain to climb if he is to gain consistancy and this season can only ever really be a building block season if he is to continue with WRC. He was in 26th position of 28 before his crash so nothing to get excited about due to an earlier off and fuel pump problems on SS2.

Rally Sweeden: A long tough weekend
Kimi's 2010 wrc season kicked off in a difficult fashion, he struggled with the snow and ice and made many an error including one which cost him about 25 minutes! Even in rally times that is a long time to lose, he finished the rally in 30th place 37 minutes behind the leader taking that one incident out of the equation he would have been approximately 12 minutes behind which would have put him 10th/11th place which isn't too ghastly.

F1: Abu Dhabi GP 2009

"We knew we did not have a car that was competitive here. It was definitely not a good weekend, but I don’t think any of us have anything to reproach ourselves for. We did the most we could with the package we hard. At the start, the track was a bit slippery and that cost me a place to Kobayashi, who was very quick today.

“What happened on the first lap ruined my race. First I was hit at the first corner, then when trying to pass Webber, I was hit and lost the front wing. At the pit stop, I ended up with some drops of petrol in my eye, from the fuel line stuck on Kovalainen’s car and then I was engulfed in flames and blinded: I was going to stop, but luckily the flames soon went out. Even now, my eyes are still burning, but I’m alright.

"Today the car wasn’t bad, but it was not quick enough to fight for the podium. This fourth place is useful in terms of keeping the team in third place in the Constructors’ Championship, but it will be hard to hang onto it over the final two races. I will definitely do everything I can though. I was unable to make up places at the start, especially as the first corner is not that far from the start line and so I was unable to make the most of the KERS.
