Europe 2008 - Confusion through the smoke
It remeinds me of pre-france last year when things ferrari seemed to be making things far more difficult than they needed to going backwards off the grid. Then in france 07 the start improved took lewis off the gird and won 2 races. This turn around HAS to happen agian in Belgium else Kimi's chances at of defending his title are seriously shaken, it is a race he has won for the last 3 times of f1 visiting. As for this race it was rather dull to be honest, the amount of field spread in the first couple of laps was massive and the only things to wake us up were the dramas of Ferrari pit stops. Then the second consecutive engine failure for Ferrari to put pay to another rather dismal weekend for Kimi. Everything crossed for good form in Belgium. XXXXXXXXXXXX

Hungary 2008 - The Mclaren 1-2 that never was ... thankgod
What a grand prix! Just when the race was looking to be dominated by Mclaren. Firstly Massas pace which you would have to say was probabily 1-2 tenths faster than the Mclaren which was against the feeling of most. Lewis then ran out of luck with a puncture and was said to be fighting his way back through the pack. Yeah right they just all pitted. THe commentators on ITV really got on my nerves a couple of times that race actually! They kept making name mistakes and agian were very quick to slag off Kimi and Ferrari. Unlucky for Massa 3 laps from the end allowed Lewis to extend his lead to 5 points but over Kimi instead of Massa which is good. All in all a good race looking forward to the next and so glad it didn't go Hamiltons way as the press would have been unbearable.
Oh yeah great to see Heikki win and fantastic drive from Timo =)
Germany 2008 - Another Blow for Ferrari

With all the resources and previous data how can you go the wrong way on the set-up? I don't know but it has cost a few points. The safety car didn't help either but it was nice to see some good overtaking by Kimi in the last laps. Another bad point is Kimi's run of fastest laps has ended after 6 fastest laps in a row! The record was and still is 7 consecutive fastest laps set by Alberto Ascari in 1952/3. Kimi is the only driver on 6 consecutive fastest laps and Fangio and Schumacher have 5. Interestingly it was Heidfeld that set fastest lap in Germany. So seven points behind now put more worringly how good lewis looked. Even after the safety car how easily he disposed of Massa. Why did massa just pull over? It would have been much better for our point of view if he took Lewis on and they both retired, even if they didn't collide it would have been nice to see him make a fight about it.
Also the ITV commentators were rather harsh on the Ferrari Drivers saying that Ferrari should be looking for a driver that could do the job properly. Rather harsh GRRRRRR!

Great Britain 2008 - Costly Decision

From third on the grid Kimi was looking set to close the gap to his championship rivals. Then the british weather turned for the race and that always makes it impossible to have a completely smooth race. Especially with Kimi's recent luck in these conditions. After Hamilton got the jump at the start which was significant as Kimi got boxed in by webber which allowed lewis to pull out a lead. Kimi was in second right up to the first stint where he closed the gap using fresher tyres. Then the nail in the British GP coffin for Kimi, not changing them tyres. If they had he should have been at least second if not have won. So the rest of the race was recovery mode and try to score as many points as possible. After sliding off the track a couple of times Kimi still managed to pick up a few places ending the race in forth as Lewis strolled accross the line with over a minute to his next competitor. Still a great race and one of high tension and it didn't do my nerves any good!
The after effects though aren't that bad, it would have been worse if lewis had been leading the championship prior to the race. 3 Drivers are now equal on points so looking on the bright sidee Kimi is 5 points closer to the championship lead than he was before!
France 2008 - A little bit too hot in the exhaust

After grabbing a good pole on the Saturday the race was going perfecty until the problem exhaust come apart. This lost Kimi the lead and a buundle of time, unfortunate but with Hamilton having a pointless weekend I was just thankful that Kimi finished the race and bagged some points. 5 Points behind Massa is manageable and it was a throughly enjoyable race. Interesting how bad BMW looked especially in qualifying after Canada, maybe the Hangovers didn't leave for several days! And days in F1 is a long time.
General News - Kimi Buys Sharon Stones Corvette
In a Monaco charity auction for Aids Kimi won the bid for sharon stones 1974 corvette for £160,000. With only 4 miles on the clock it wasn't exactly used alot!
Canada 2008 - Just another BMW 1-2!

Qualifying was good overall for Kimi getting 3rd on the grid so no reason for panic. Although as I expected qualifying was going to be blown into irrelavance by the time the race started. The track surface was not as bad on race day as I thought with only Alonso hitting the wall and piquets spin. The temporary surface done its job at the hairpin.
Now onto the main point, Kimi, well if you need anymore proof that F1 is unpredictable look no further. The infamous pit lane exit has claimed more victims. Lewis steaming into the back of Kimi which I think is the first time the two drivers have banged wheels. In terms of the effect of the incident the greater loss is for Lewis; the race win was looking good so he had a good chance to extend his championship lead (unless Kimis pace which he had prior to pitting was maintained) his pride and confidence will take a hit and also in France he will be no higher than P11 on the grid. For Kimi really the damage done is the points lost to Massa and the BMW's.
However after Canada its France and GB, two tracks which Kimi excelled on Last year so if he can repeat the feat again this year he will be looking very strong indeed. Great result for BMW though its because of the manic time the last 2 races especially is why they have got so many points but still a threat at the moment. I think Ferrari and Mclaren will probabily over take them again on points as the championship wears on but by the looks of thing they won't be too far behind at the end.

Monaco 2008 - Rain always Shakes it up!

Rain today for Kimi fans not a good thing. Apart from the obvious collision with Sutil Kimi's pace was nowhere in the race. Probabily lots of factors that contribute to that but he never really looked thereatining all race. This one is defentely one to forget and move on to canada with a fresh mind. Kimi is now back chasing the championship lead, 3 points behind Lewis and 1 ahead of Massa.
F1 to one - Kimi Raikkonen

A little treat for you this week, a feature from offical f1 magazine (June 2003) with a one word interview with Kimi. The reason well the site is offically 2 years old this month! Also i am underway developing a fully new website which will probabily be online within the next month or so.
Turkey 2008 - Another Double ferrari podium

A very average weekend really for Kimi, after giving Kovalinen a puncture and damaging his front wing we was unable to push forward agian. Lewis looked pretty handly especially after taking massa he easily pulled away. I would have much preferred to see Kimi overtake Lewis on track but he still only loses 2 points of the championship lead and theres always next weekend to get back on track. Unsure who will have the advantage at monaco this year. Mclaren were strong last year but as has been said the Ferrari is the fastest in the slower corners. Hopefully it will be a more interesting watch than last years grand prix which failed to entertain to it's usual standards. But for this weekend 6 points more to the tally.

Spain 2008 - Kimi Wins Ahead of Massa and Lewis

The title says it all, quicker than Massa in P1 and quicker than both Renaults in P2. In terms of the race, which was virtually finished after the quali sessions in terms of Kimi. Bad accident for Heikki and hopefully he will be back in turkey. Looking ahead this is one of the biggest title leads Kimi has had and Ferrari are normally strong at istanbul (especially Massa). After that it is monaco which mclaren whre dominant last year and then Canada which was one of the highlights of 2007 in terms of action (and incidently won the best sporting event at the BAFTA's). So all is good overall and looking very strong for kimi with 2 wins out of 4.
Bahrain 2008 - An excellent result despite problems for Ferrari

Upto qualifing Ferrari have been quick in the practices sessions and Hamilton had a crash into the barriers in practice 2. Qualifing seemed very strange, the first two sessions going to Massa nothing strange about that but it was the size of the margin he had. On low fuel he was 0.3 ahead of a Toyota in Q1 and 0.6 ahead of the rest in Q2. As for Kimi a rather average looking qualifing with the result being 4th on the Grid. He has said that he wasn't completely satisfied with the balance.
Race day turned out fairly rutine for Ferrari as Massa got the lead from Kubica on the start line then lead the rest of the way through. Lewis's poor start letting Kimi into 3rd only to be Jumped by Kovalinen ... who he got back later and then also overtaken Kubica for 2nd where he finished. Lewis having the accident which the ITV commentators where being quite harsh on Alonso for that one i think. It wasn't as though he crashing into the back of Alonso right in the corner or in instant after. I think the mclaren just got a better exit and Lewis didn't move over quick enough. BMW's pace was clear to see that they have made massive improvements, i wouldn't be surprised to see them win a race this year if Ferrari and Mclaren falter slighty.
Malaysia 2008 - Reversal of fortunes

What a total opposite of a grand prix, stating with Kimi and Ferrari from looking inreliable and making silly mistakes to looking like they had been doing it all season long. Shame Massa had his problem as it would have gave more points to the team, encouaging to see the pace Kimi had in a fair fight agianst massa prior to his off. Starting from 2nd on the grid also was crucial after a blitzing 2nd qualifing the final as Kimi said himself that they couldn't find the grip to get pole. As for Mclaren they had a relativly poor weekend and they seemed to be within the BMW teratory rather than Ferrari. Im glad that ITV didn't defend lewis over the penalites given by the stewards for impeading Fernando and Nick. Glad to see not all of toyotas funds are being poured down the drain and i think they deserve a break. All is looking good for bahrain as only ferrari and toyota tested there earlier in the year. Mclaren i got the feeling seem to have the same problem that plagued ferrari for some of last season; that when in turbulant air they cannot overtake as hamilton spent so long behind the Red bull. Or maybe they were just slow!?
Australia 2008 - A weekend to forget for Ferrari

Qualifing started well and everything according to plan until the fuel pressure problem hit kimi. He stopped 100m short of the pit lane entrance where he could have got it repaired. The race also started well kimi making up 8 places on the first lap. Then getting stuck behind Rubens for far too long didn't help. A couple of silly mistakes overtaking due to lack of concentration. Then to wrap it all up a some sort of mechanical failure at the end. Luckily the point was still gained due to such a high attrition rate.
On another note glad to see Rosberg on the podium and Im liking the Heikki - Mclaren look, i have alot of respect for them and wouldn't mind to see him win. Bourdias also played a safe race to get STR some points and BMW's pace looked very good. Will it be a sign of things to come? Bring on Malaysia for Kimi and put this behind them but with only a week to get sorted fingers crossed.
